Star Wars Jedi Survivor Rancor Guide

Star wars Jedi Survivor Rancor Guide – In this Jedi Survivor Rancor Guide, I’ll show you how to defeat the Rancor Boss located on Koboh, which will likely be the first Legendary Boss you’ll face in the game, and can be quite challenging.

Star Wars Jedi Survivor Rancor Guide

The Rancor hits extremely hard in Jedi Survivor, and even though he is slow moving most of the time, it can be difficult to attack him and get away without taking damage. Additionally, some of his attacks will either kill you in one hit, or all but kill you, so avoiding damage is the key to succeeding in this Jedi Survivor Boss fight.

The first thing to know about this Boss is that Blocking and Parrying is not an effective strategy when facing the Rancor due to the AoE nature of his attacks, and the split second decision making needed to determine whether to Block, Parry, Dodge or Jump, and you’ll often get it wrong due to how quickly you need to make this decision.

Jedi Survivor Rancor Guide - Jumping is the key to this fight!

For this reason I highly recommend that you stick to Dodging and Jumping ONLY for this fight, as all his attacks can be avoided with these two things alone, making it easier to make decisions in a short space of time. Additionally, many of his attacks (the red glowing ones) cannot be Blocked or Parried anyway, which further emphasizes this point.

Jumping is more effective than Dodging though, and if you follow this Jedi Survivor Rancor Guide, you should look to Jump over or away from as many attacks as you can. This is because many of his attacks generate ground tremors that will still hit you after your Dodge is complete. So watch his attacks and jump away or towards him depending on your positioning. If you can land inside his ground tremor then you can attacks safely much of the time.

How to Deal with Rancor’s Unblockable Attacks

The Rancor does 2 Unblockable Attacks which you will need to learn to read and respond appropriately, and we’ll cover both in this Jedi Survivor Rancor Guide. The first is when he raises up slightly and pounds the ground, sending out a ground tremor that hits in a straight line. The best strategy for this is to jump and flip forward over it and land near the Rancor, allowing you to get several attacks off before he recovers. This is one of your best opportunities to get in damage, so try to utilize this strategy whenever you can.

Jedi Survivor Rancor Guide - Watch out for this tremor attacks!

The second Unblockable attack is where he glows red for a second and then lunges forward and tries to grab you. If this connects you will die instantly, even on easier difficulties of the game, so you must avoid it at all costs! The best way to do this is to Dodge forward when he charges so that you end up just behind him, avoiding the attack, and positioning yourself for an attack or two. Just don’t get greedy with attacks here, as he tends to attack again much more quickly than he does after the previous Unblockable attack.

What Stance and Perks to Use against Rancor

Which Stance you use isn’t super important against Rancor in Jedi Survivor, however, I did find that the Dual Blades stance worked exceptionally well for me because it allowed me to get in more damage during the few opportunities that I had to attack, and since Rancor is rather slow, the danger of getting locked into an attack animation is lower than other Boss fights. So if you’re struggling, I recommend trying to use Dual Blades and see how it goes.

You likely wont have any Perks when first facing Rancor, so there are none really needed for this fight. However, Steadfast and Elixir are both good for this fight, and you can buy both from Zee if you have enough Data Discs.
