In this Diablo 4 Necromancer Class Build Guide I’ll show you how to play a Blight Summoner Necromancer, which is a DoT/Summoner Diablo 4 Necromancer Build that focuses on hitting multiple enemies with Blight and stacking multiple Damage Over Time effects on enemies while your Skeletons swarm them down. If you’ve been looking for a Diablo 4 Necromancer Build that uses DoTs and a large army to the fullest, then this Build Guide is for you!

The Blight Summoner Build is a powerful option for players looking to dominate in Diablo 4. This build focuses on summoning deadly minions to do your bidding, while also dealing massive damage to enemies. Whether you’re a seasoned player or a newcomer to Diablo, this guide will help you get started with the Blight Summoner Build.

Diablo 4 Necro: Blight Summoner Build Guide

The general strategy with this Diablo 4 Blight Summoner Build is to deploy Blight into a pack of enemies at the start of combat, which will deal damage over time in a decent sized AoE puddle, but will also Slow them and increase the damage you and your Minions deal to them by 15%. Spam Blight until your Essence is drained and then use Corpse Explosion to detonate Corpses into more AoE DoT puddles stacking even more of them on enemies, and using Corpse Tendrils to pull enemies together and Stun them inside your AoE Damage Over Time effects.

How to Handle Packs of Enemies with your Necromancer

So the concept when taking on packs of enemies with this Diablo 4 Necromancer Build is to drop AoEs while ganging up on them with your Skeletal Warriors and Skeletal Mages. Let’s look at Blight first and explore the mechanics of how this all works.

Blight

Blight is your go to Core Skill for this Build that allows you to hit for some direct damage, but also drop a puddle of Shadow Damage over time in a large AoE. This damages enemies standing in it, and you can stack multiple versions of this as Damage Over Time effects in Diablo IV stack, allowing you to really crank out some damage.

Once you have the Enhanced Blight passive this will also Slow enemies by 25%, which helps to keep them inside the AoE but also allows for more damage as you can get bonuses with Damage to Slowed Enemies quite easily on your gear. Once you have the Supernatural Blight upgrade you and your Minions will also deal 15% more damage to enemies standing in Blight which is not a small amount, so make sure you get it.

Corpse Explosion

Through out the course of combat you will inevitably spawn Corpses, and you should use Corpse Explosion on these for best results. However, unlike other Corpse Explosion Necromancer Builds, you will be taking the Blighted Corpse Explosion passive, changing your Corpse Explosion into a Shadow Damage over time effect, not unlike Blight itself. Remember Damage Over Time effects stack, so detonating many Corpses in a row will all add up on enemies and Bosses, so make sure to use this often.

Raise Skeleton (Book of the Dead)

One of your Skill slots will of course be occupied by Raise Skeleton as you will want an army of undead for this Build, since that’s half of the Build. We use the Skirmishers in this case, using the upgrade that grants us an additional Skirmisher. This helps to pad our numbers, and when combined with the Blood Getter’s Aspect, you’ll have a total of 7 Skirmishers at once.

We’ll take the Cold Skeletal Mages, and use the upgrade that increases our Essence by 2 every time they hit with a primary attack. This helps with our own resource management, allowing us to cast Blight more often and really stack up those DoTs. You can also get an additional 2 Mages from slotting the Viscous Aspect, so make sure you get this one.

Remember that you can use the Raise Skeleton Skill to heal your minions and to increase their Attack Speed for a brief amount of time, so make sure you do so in tough fights to get the most of them.

Corpse Tendrils

Corpse Tendrils is a 1 point wonder here, and it simply uses a Corpse to pull in enemies and Stun them. It works nicely with our Diablo 4 Necromancer Build because you can then stack DoTs under them all easily, and they cannot move while they continue to take damage.

Bone Splinters

Bone Splinters is our basic attack for this Diablo 4 Necromancer Build, and it’s used much more often during the early goings than later. Still it gives us an attack option if we’re out of Essence, and it can set Vulnerable once we have the Initiate’s Bone Splinters upgrade.

Boss Fights

During Boss fights you’ll pretty much employ the same strategy, you’ll just have to be a bit more savvy with your Corpses. Golem shines, here so let’s talk about how to use it.

Golem

Golem is very tanky and if you take the upgrade that drops a Corpse when he takes 20% of his HP then you’ll be sure to gain several Corpses from him during Boss encounters. This can help to get those Corpse Explosions, allowing you to stack more DoTs on the Boss with this Diablo 4 Necromancer Build.

Additionally, you can use the Golem Active Skill to have him taunt enemies or the Boss and reduce the damage he takes for 5 seconds. This is not only great for getting enemies (or a Boss) off of you, but also for keeping Golem alive under these circumstances. Should he die though he will respawn in 20 seconds, so it’s not such a big deal. Make sure to use this Active Ability when you need it.

Army of the Dead

Army of the Dead is your Ultimate Skill, and we use this mostly on Boss fights, but also in tough Elite battles. It summons Skeletons for 7 seconds that explode over and over in AoEs damaging everything around them. This has a very long cooldown, but provides decent burst, and once you have the Prime Army of the Dead upgrade these Skeletons can also drop Corpses, which helps in Boss fights where there are less available.

Final Tips

Grim Harvest really makes Corpse Explosion shine, and you should look to pick it up when you can. It will allow you to replenish Essence with each cast, which should be constant, pretty much removing the need to ever use Bone Splinters. Max this out for best results.

Aspect of the Void is a great Legendary Aspect to add to this Build, as it makes Blight pull in enemies, making it easier to keep them in your AoE. Be on the look out for this one, and make sure you slot it when you can.

Lastly, gear bonuses you want to look out for are Shadow Damage, Damage Over Time, Core Skill Damage, Damage to Slowed Enemies and +1 Rank to Blight or +1 Rank to Corpse Explosion. All of these will boost the damage with this Diablo 4 Necromancer Build, so try to get these if you can!
